While leaders aren't self-selected, inherent charisma and decisiveness often help professionals land in roles where they are responsible for guiding others. Embrace Difficult Conversations

Be willing to have difficult conversations. Effective leaders understand that the best solutions arise from productive conflict. Don’t argue or show disrespectful behavior, but be willing to speak up if you have a different solution or a new idea.
